Mending Shattered Dreams

Today I was remembering when cleaning my house on Sunday that I had broken one of my favourite candle holders. I had bought this in the USA on holiday. It was a Yankee candle votive holder and red with snowflakes and so pretty! As I picked up the shattered pieces from the floor I felt tearful. Somehow this all brought back to my mind all my shattered dreams. Now as I write "my dreams" I have had to learn that my dreams are not always what the the Lord has in His plans for me!  I have had to become more transparent and surrender my broken-ness into His Hands. The hardest part has been seeking His will for my life as I have fought His leading.

I have found that God's remedy to restore all my broken pieces is not to hold onto these pieces.Just take all those pieces into the light hand them to Him and let go! I have learnt that shattered dreams are a prelude to joy and that something wonderful survives everything terrible! How I am looking forward to this!!

I would like to share a favourite quote:

"When one door of happiness closes, another opens, but often we look so long at the closed door that we do not see the one that has been opened for us."
                                                                 Helen Keller

It is so wonderful to be able to spend time with  family and this is something I love! Sunday I had a barbeque at my house-such perfect weather for this!! James my daughter's partner and my partner Michael did the barbeque and Natalie my daughter prepared the salads. And me-I supervised and enjoyed eating the food!!!.............lol. I now am thinking that we did not take any photos and this would have been another time to capture all those precious moments! I am a person who usually always has the camera ready and is clicking away!

I would like to include some photos here of my family. The first is one of Natalie and I love this photo with the scenery behind her. A photo of Natalie and James,a photo of my precious grandbaby Callum who is two and one of Natalie and Charlie another of my grandchildren.

  2. Hi Linda! Such a great, great post! The Lord is so good to us & so faithful! I love the thoughts & insights that you share - you can teach others so much!

Thank you for sharing more pictures. Each time I see Natalie, I think of that toothless little girl that I first met - her face like sunshine! What a beautiful woman she has grown into, & I know you are responsible for that. Lovely grandchildren too!!

Why wasn't I invited to your barbeque? :-) Sounded so good Linda, & even better that your sweet family were there. Sending you big hugs! Will try to email you later - so busy today! Hugs
