Prayer

Prayer is talking with God and it is about getting close to Him.It is not just about asking for things although this is part of prayer. When we pray it is good to tell the Lord how much we love Him,a time to thank Him for all He has done and how dependent we are on Him. We cannot do anything without Him!
Prayer is a perfect time to tell Him everything that is in our hearts and to give Him our requests. Confess anything that needs to be confessed.Praise Him for working powerfully in our lives.
Some reasons to pray:

To speak to God. 1 Peter 3:12
and I love this one:
To have peace. Philippians 4:6, 7
To hear God.  Proverbs 8:34
To have joy John 16: 24
To resist temptation. Matthew 26:41
To make your requests known to God.  Matthew 21:22

I remember so well when I was ill and facing major surgery many people prayed for me and it is here that the bible tells us that "where two or three are gathered together in my Name, I am there in the midst of them." Matthew 18:20

Throughout I learnt that I can lay my burdens at His feet and He will always answer. Perhaps not in the way I expect or in my time but He is ever faithful.

And-a beautiful and thought provoking quote by Corrie Ten Boom:
"Is prayer your steering wheel or spare tire?"

And sharing some photos taken on a day out to the ocean.

  8. Thank you for sharing your heart-thoughts Linda.

The revelation of Jesus Christ is the foundation of my Christian life. Prayer is the foundation of my life in HIM. Prayer is a beautiful privilege we've been given by GOD and I'm so thankful.

    Thanks for sharing!!

  15. Hi, Linda~

I just finished a great book, "Get Off Your Knees & Pray" by Sheila Walsh. I am one that struggles at times, with setting aside a specific time of day to pray, so I now will pray continually throughout the day about whoever/whatever it is that God lays upon my heart.

It had also been difficult for me to pray out loud, always had. I had worried about what/who I should pray for or what to say. I thought, if God knows everything from beginning of time till the end, and he knows my prayers before I even pray them, what is the purpose? But in this book, there was a quote by Soren Kierkegaard that really struck me....

"Prayer does not change God, but it changes him who prays!"

I have never heard it put quite that way, but how true that is!

PRAISE GOD that prayer changes me!

    Blessings~

  19. what a wonderful blog entry!! I could not exist without prayer. I actually could use some prayer. I have found myself experiencing a lot of medical issues lately. I have to have a root canal (the third for this tooth) this week, then I have to see an opthamologist for a consult on getting a cataract taken care of which I am sure was caused by my statin drug for cholesterol, which also is causing me horrible muscle pain in my leg and arm. I have been praying for answers and could use some extra help. This is really getting me down, as I never feel good anymore.
