A Forgiving Heart

I have been pondering forgiveness today. I am remembering that the Lord has given me closure on a couple of issues that I had prayed about for many years. God is good and He has been gracious and with His help I am now able to move forward.

Life is an exercise in forgiveness. Our Saviour understood the importance of forgiveness when He commanded us to love our enemies.

But I say unto you,Love your enemies, bless them that curse you,do good to them that hate you,and pray for them which despitefully use you,and persecute you.  Matthew 5:44

Yes forgiveness is often difficult but with God all things are possible.

But Jesus beheld them and said unto them, with men this is impossible:but with God all things are possible.  Matthew 19:26

When we have been hurt or let down and experience pain many times we want to get revenge or strike back and to hurt those who hurt us. Jesus instructs us to do otherwise. Believers are taught that forgiveness is God's way and that mercy is God's plan for our life. We have already been forgiven by our Creator and we should forgive others. If we hold bitterness in our hearts take it to the Lord in prayer and leave it there!

If you are willing to honor a person out of respect for God,you can be assured that God will honor you. Beth Moore

God's Word is a light not only to our path but to our thinking. Place it in your heart today and you will never walk in darkness. Joni Eareckson Tada

  1. Oh Linda, forgiveness is the hardest thing to do, but the most freeing. I too, have had my share of forgiving to do, but God really does honor that committment from us.
    Take care, dear one.

  2. Linda, this post is so beautiful. FOrgiveness is badly needed by many in the world today.

FOrgiveness sets us free to walk in the purposes of God. Unforgiveness imprisons us.

I love the pictures. You are blessed to be living in such a beautiful place.

    Love

  5. Dearest Linda, This post holds so much truth for us. I remember a time when humanly speaking it was impossible for me to forgive someone but I asked the Lord to forgive through me and He granted my prayer and truly gave me His forgiveness. I love your photos as well. Thank you for always sharing and encouraging.
    Hugs, Noreen
